For as long as I can remember, I have always received phone calls, emails and text messages for recipe ideas, party menus, how to make something questions and even where to find particular items in the grocery store. It’s so funny! I remember one time my sister was making something and she had toasted almonds on her shopping list. Obviously, this came from a particular recipe. She finally called me after searching all over the grocery store to ask where she could find toasted almonds. I couldn’t stop laughing at her. I told her that she had to just buy some almonds and toast them herself! It was hilarious. I get calls like this all the time……. still! Yesterday, I woke up and checked my cell phone and had a message from my niece. She was asking for a good steak marinade. Even though I was just waking up and was reading her message with blurry eyes, I got so excited. She was obviously having company over and was going to be grilling. I recently started using this marinade that I read about from Chef Jamie Oliver. I LOVE him! In this one recipe he uses olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, fresh rosemary and fresh cracked pepper (I think). I may have added the pepper because I love it so much. Anyway, I sent the ingredients to my niece and told her what to do. I’ll make sure to post the exact recipe. It really is amazing!!
I started thinking to myself that steak sounded kind of good and I knew I had a bone in rib eye in the freezer and all of the ingredients for the marinade. I decided to cook the same thing. I set out all of the ingredients and even took pictures of them. I also took a picture of my steak marinating in the ziplock bag and sent it to my niece. She even sent me a message saying that she never bought fresh rosemary before. This is exactly why I sent her a picture of all of the ingredients I put out on my counter……….. to make her food shopping easy! Later in the day she sent me a picture that said “Look Aunt T”………….. Needless to say her BBQ turned out great and she even sent pics of the finished dishes. I was so proud of her. She did a good job. There must have been over 30 text messages between yesterday and today. Of course, I had to send her little side notes about letting the meat come to room temp before cooking and letting it rest before cutting. I’m a maniac, but whatever. 🙂 Here is a picture of MY steak! It was amazing!! Thanks @Jamie Oliver for my new favorite steak marinade. It truly is amazing!
