NYC: A First Taste (and a Long Pour)
Manhattan was—in a word—exceptional.
I’ve just returned from a week in the city with my best friend, Becky. It was a trip of staggering contrasts. We reminisced about being twenty-year-olds, broke and counting pennies after running out of cash on the beaches of Jamaica. Now, we were sitting at the bar of The Plaza Hotel, sipping French 75s and not even glancing at the prices on the menu.
The city showed herself to us from every angle: from the heights of RiseNY to the slow, 2.5-hour drift of the Circle Line, and through the secret, local history shared by my dear friend Danielle.
I have so much to tell you—about the hotel where the service was as seamless and sophisticated as the decor—and the legacy of a cocktail that connected me to a great-grandmother I never met, but apparently, I embody every time I host a party.
A Request for Your Patience…
Because I believe a story this good shouldn’t be rushed, I’m taking my time to craft a 3 or 4-part series that does justice to the magic we found. I want you to feel the weight of the Plaza’s linens and the chill of the gin just as I did.
Stay tuned. The first “Indulgent Escape” is currently being poured.
EAT. SIP. PLAY.
